Top 5 Cities People Are Moving To & Why

Hey WorstNeighbor Fam!! We are feeling good and back with the bulls*it. Unless you live under the f**king subway like I do, you probably notice that people are moving. Hella. People are working remotely, and prefer not to pay an absurd amount of money to live in a city they don’t need to be in. Today, people prefer to live in places that have more space. They are also looking to save money on everyday expenses. People want safety, green spaces, as well as access to everyday amenities. I actually moved a few times during the pandemic. I started off in South Tampa, then it got too expensive. Me and my girlfriend decided to move back to our home state of Pennsylvania. Honestly, it was the best decision I ever made. We lived in the Lehigh Valley from 2020 to 2023 (Fast-paced & Feels like Jersey), and now I’m in Harrisburg which is super chill (Feels like Maryland). Let’s face it..life has punched us all in the godd*mn mouth with humility over the past few years. Today, I journal, take walks in nature, meditate..sh** I never thought about doing before 2020. Are you looking for a change? Maybe you want to move but have no clue where to go. Or maybe you’re just curious. If so, this is for you. Here’s my Top 5 Cities People Are Moving To & Why.

  1. Myrtle Beach, SC

Family Kingdom Amusement Park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Beer cans, Pick-up Trucks, and H*cks. Awwww sh*t. We are in the beautiful Myrtle Beach my friends. It’s like Miami Beach, but much sleepier and on c*ack. People are moving to Myrtle Beach, for a lot of the same reasons I moved to Tampa. It’s a grumpy northerner’s dream to live by a beach. We choose warm places only to come in from our 9 to 5’s, grab a white claw, and play Call of Duty indoors for the remainder of the evenings. According to zumper.com, the average rent for a 1-bedroom apartment is $1,405. Thats cheap as f***, so take your bud- lite, flip flops with no socks wearing a** down there. Additionally, according to zillow.com, the median home value is at $301,846. This makes it super affordable for a beach town. Myrtle Beach has approximately 60 miles of beaches, and offers a diverse economy. Top industries in the region include Aerospace, Manufacturing, Technology, Healthcare, Retail, Agriculture, and Tourism. For entertainment you big headed f***, check out Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, The Hammock Shop Village, and Brookgreen Gardens. Sorry for the name calling, I just getting excited talking about places on shr**ms.

  1. Lakeland, FL

Gold Teeth, Wicks (Hair like Kodak Black), and Sweet Tea goddamnit. If you come to Florida and don't get the chicken tender sub from Publix ya mom’s a h** h** h** jk. Lakeland, Florida has been gaining popularity recently. This primarily due to the insane housing cost in Tampa. Don’t believe me? take a look at the insanity below.

This has caused more people to move further into the state, seeking a lower cost of living. According to rentcafe.com, the average rent currently sits at $1489. That isn’t too cheap, but is great in comparison to cities like Miami. The city has median rent price of $2900. All that money for alligators, humidity, and being inside with air conditioning running 9 months out of the year. The median home cost is currently $286,396, which is as rare as finding a f**king ice skating rink in July. In addition to being affordable, Lakeland has great weather. The lowest temperature is an average of 62.5 degrees Fahrenheit in January. What the f*** says the rest of Americans. If you’re into raising dumb 5 year olds like myself, Lakeland is in Polk County School District. This is one of the most desirable school districts in the state. The region is also conveniently located, about 45 minutes from Tampa and an 1 hour & 30 minutes from Orlando. This means that the area has access to two of the largest cities in the state. You can work in Orlando, and eat a d*** in Lakeland, or the other way around. Lakeland, Florida allows access to both Orlando and Tampa with out paying the price.

  1. Sarasota, FL

Show off your fancy shoes on Instagram, I know you want to. When I look at Sarasota, I think about eating a d*** from out of the sand. I put ice cream cones on my head, and walk around in my orange speedos on the beach. Sarasota is located in southwest coast of Florida, and has long been a desirable place for people to migrate to. However, I’m going to let you know now, the sh*t ain’t cheap. According to rentcafe.com, the average rent currently sits at $2,215. Wow, all that and you don’t even get a free pair of t*ts. Owning a home here isn’t cheap either. The average home cost according to zillow.com is $461,217. You know what they say, gotta pay the cost to be the boss. Sarasota also has a good economy with a low unemployment rate at 4.6%, which is lower than the national average. Additionally, Siesta Key is located in Sarasota and is known as one of the most beautiful beaches in America. If you’re into riding d***, check out the Sarasota Classic Car Museum. This museum features everything from classic cars to exotic foreign roadsters. So if you have the bread and love alligators, Sarasota might be just the place for you.

  1. Fort Myers, FL

Florida, Florida, Florida. Listen, I know you love that alligator d***. Thats why I have another city on the list just for you. Its almost like people said “I got remote work money, f*** living in the cold I’m out. People are moving to Fort Myers for several reasons. It’s hella safe, no seriously. This coastal city ranks as the third safest city in the country. Additionally, people are migrating because of the state’s “no income tax”. However, they will get your a** with the high sales tax, as well as Florida’s “Sun Pass”. As a former Florida resident, watch out for the “invisible tolls”. These are electronic tolls that bill people by license plate, each time you take certain freeways. There’s no line or people there to collect money or tickets. Meaning you can rack up thousands of dollars in tickets if you’re not careful. America also gotta get they coins. Hey, I don’t blame them. Speaking of “getting coins” Fort Myers sure is getting theirs. According to rentcafe.com, the average rent is currently $2,021. Additionally, realtor.com has the median listing price at 409.9K. So If you’re a broke h*e like me, you might want to consider looking for a different city. However, If you have the cash to spare, Fort Myers has a lot to offer. Things to do include visiting the Gulf Coast Symphony, Promenade at Bonita Bay, as well as visiting the Western Everglades. For a full list of things to do in the Fort Myers area check out visitfortmyers.com. Fort Myers is a solid option for those willing to pay the cost that comes with b*tches. I mean’t beaches, sunshine, and palm trees.

  1. Boise, ID

View of Boise, Idaho Skyline from Capital Boulevard

IDAHO? No, you the h*e. Who would have ever thought that a city in Idaho would be a popular place to move to? Thats goes to show how much has changed since 2020. Boise, Idaho has become attractive for those looking to relocate. This is primarily due to its low cost of living. You know cheap sh** attracts d**kheads like me. According to rentcafe.com, the average rent price is at $1,612, which is 26% above the national average. So why the hell are people moving here instead of cities that have a comparable or lower cost of living? Boise has 4 seasons, about 200 days of sunshine, and low crime. The city also boasts a variety of outdoor activities. Hiking in the Sawtooth mountains, swimming at Fall Creek Falls, and dipping your n*pples in Idaho’s Natural Hot Springs just to name a few. You know them mountain states cost a lot of f*cking money right? The average home price according to zillow.com is currently $466,541, which is actually down 6.6% since last year. You are also a short drive from 4 different peaks, which consist of Cervidae, Kepros Mountain, Shaw Mountain/Lucky Peak, and Mount Heinen. Boise, Idaho is city that offers a high quality of life, stunning mountain views, and relatively low cost of living.
